Ashley Petrilyak

Ashley graduated from Appalachian State University with her Bachelors and Master’s degree in Communication Disorders with a concentration in Child Development. During her practicum years at Appalachian, Ashley had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including two elementary schools, a home health center, a nursing home/rehabilitation center and a Preschool Language Learning Center. In the adult setting, Ashley’s therapy experience consisted of swallowing treatment and evaluations, oral motor exercises and cognitive rehabilitation.  In the preschool and school age setting, Ashley gained experience in the treatment of articulation and phonological disorders, receptive and expressive language delay, fluency, Apraxia of Speech, Autism Spectrum Disorder, social language communication skills and developmental delays.  It was working in the elementary schools and growing up watching her mother, Tanya McDowell (co-owner at Let’s Talk and SLP), which lead her in the direction of young children. Since completing her CFY under the supervision of Tracy Vail, she has become PROMPT certified and attended trainings for Apraxia of Speech and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
