Charlotte "Charlie" Bell
Born and raised in the UK, Charlie has worked with children with autism and their families since 2001. She has a Masters in Psychology (1998) from St. Andrews University, Scotland, having specialized in childhood developmental disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Charlie has worked for 7 years as an ABA therapist with clients ages 2-18, initially spending 2 years working at the pioneering ABA school in London, TreeHouse School, before moving to Sydney, Australia. There, she worked at Giant Steps School for children with autism and consequently as a home therapist for Lizard Children’s Centre. On returning to the UK in 2005, Charlie was offered an international internship at Autism Partnership in southern California, where she trained with some of the world's leading experts in ABA.
In 2007, Charlie took a different path, taking photographs of children and teenagers with autism in the UK, US, Australia and Vietnam, with the goal of raising awareness about autism on a global level. Her work won several awards and was published in Australia, New Zealand and the US, as well as being exhibited in London. Charlie also studied during this time to become a parenting coach, and worked to help parents and siblings who have a family member with autism.
Charlie worked most recently as senior behavioral interventionist at Autism Spectrum Therapies in Los Angeles, before moving to Raleigh with her husband, in December '09.
