Social Skills
Dori Pelz-Sherman, Ph.D will begin conducting play-based social skills for all age groups at Let’s Talk this March. Inspired by the work of Michelle Garcia Winner, Carol Gray, Tony Attwood and others, and building on a foundation of teaching experience, Dr. Pelz-Sherman’s groups will offer participants an opportunity to learn, practice and improve social thinking and social behavior, together with peers. As the parent of two children with special needs herself, Dr. Pelz-Sherman possesses a deep and comprehensive understanding of the challenges and frustrations that children face at home, at school and in many of their social environments. As an integrated member of the Let’s Talk clinic, she can incorporate your child’s related therapeutic goals. Developing social thinking and new social skills is a process for a child, and this introductory class is designed to meet your child’s specific needs. Options for ongoing (not-time limited) groups will be considered.
Interested parents, please contact Donna at the front desk (852-0702) to make an appointment for an intake interview. If your child has a Let’s Talk OT or Speech Pathologist, Dr. Pelz-Sherman will work with your child’s therapist to incorporate accommodations that support your child’s growth here at Let’s Talk.
