Tanya is the co-owner of Let's Talk Speech and Language Services, Inc. She obtained her BS in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and MS in Speech and Language Pathology from East Carolina University. She is also PROMPT trained.
Tanya has been practicing in the field of Speech Pathology for 23 years. Her experience includes public school setting, home health, private schools, hospital, and private practice. She specializes in treating disorders of apraxia, fluency, vocal nodules, language processing and phonological/articulation disorders.
Working with children is a passion she truly loves and finds very rewarding. She believes in a holistic approach which involves child, family, therapist, and teachers in order to provide an in depth and successful approach to therapy and communicative success of the child.
Tanya was awarded the "Clinical Achievement Award" in 2010. This is a very prestigious award presented every year by the North Carolina Speech, Hearing and Language Association. Tanya was given this award because of her success in treating children with Apraxia of Speech as well as her "never give up" attitude.
Tanya also was honored by a patient's family who has chosen to honor her for all of the hard work through the establishment of the Tanya Johnson McDowell & Riley Floyd Endowed Scholarship in Speech-Language Pathology at East Carolina University in 2010. This was the first of it's kind at East Carolina University. Each year the recipient of this scholarship will share Tanya's passion for children and her "never give up" attitude in working with children with communication disorders.
